The main fundraising event is the Annual Dinner organised by Mr Said Shehadeh, to whom our warmest thanks.

The Annual Dinner 2002

>The Annual Dinner 2002 was held on Saturday November 9th at the Hotel Inter-Continental, Hyde Park Corner. The Guest of Honor was Dr Azmi Bishara, Member of the Knesset.

The Dinner held in 2001 raised sufficient funds to pay the cost of:

1. Airfares, accommodation and tuition for 18 students from the school who spent 6 weeks in British hospitals on elective training. (Very few of the hospitals charged for tuition). £15,450
2. Short course costs in Britain for 8 staff of the school. £8,050
3. Equipment provided to the school; 7 computers, Internet hub, Sanyo projector, Whiteboard, Omnibook and 24 medical CDs. £14,800
4. Travel and accommodation for 3 visits to the school by Colin Green and 4 by external examiners (Dr Hywel Thomas, Dean of Basic Medical Sciences, Guy's King's and St Thomas's Medical School; Professor Eldryd Parry, Tropical Education and Health Trust; Professor P Boulos, University College London; Professor Ronald Lamont. £3,364
5. Bursaries for students with particular needs and for a student representative to attend a medical conference in Denmark. £4,000
6. Provided a substantial contribution to Medical School staff support which amounted to £70,400.
